I didn't want to do this, but I lost a bet. If I wasn't an Auburn fan this would most certainly be my ream of the week regardless. The performance put on Saturday Night was a classic from a solid team in the Georgia Bulldogs. They imposed their will on a very young and inexperienced offensive line and inexperienced defense. They used every single advantage to their advantage and Auburn's struggles at Sanford Stadium continued.
They were able to drive down the field almost every single time they had the ball and eat up a ton of clock. It is disappointing to see as an Auburn fan, but typical Georgia football. Stetson Bennet IV might get the start over JT Daniels later this year if he keeps on playing as good as he did Saturday night. The offensive line is playing really well for the Dawgs and this is how they were able to impose their will through the run game and nice passing.
Their defense was on a tear Saturday Night and without forcing a single turnover limited Auburn to not a single touchdown. This was an offense that looked unstoppable last week but this week got pressured almost every single down. The only thing that really worked for them was the run game and Georgia did a very good job in limiting the big run game plays.
The #1 thing thing that surprised me from them is their balance in the run game. There was four different running backs with at least five carries and two with 40+ yards and not a single one with more than 15 carries. That's what kept Kevin Steele and his defense off balance and lead them to play off key on almost every single down.
I think if they could balance out their air assault it would be scary to any team that sees them. This week, we saw them attack with Kearis Jackson and he had 147 yards total receiving. That's amazing considering he's not even their #1 receiver but considering the fact that no other receiver had more than two receptions that's concerning. The threats they have are scary but they also need to be able to use them separately.
They have Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky and Florida all coming up in the next four games so they'll be getting a lot of attention from everybody. They should definitely be a team to keep an eye on this year and if they end up going to the Playoff this could be a break through year finally. A hard schedule but I think they can prevail and should be scary for any team (specifically Alabama) to play. Maybe they will keep their SEC East title for a fourth year straight.
